The North Platte Art Guild was started in the 70's by Dr. John Dorwart as a way to manage the newly-formed Governor's Professional Art Show for Nebraskaland Days. Within the year, the Competitive Nebraskaland Days Show also was established. Members of the guild continue to staff the show each June.

The guild meets in the Art and Gift Gallery at 506 South Dewey on the first Monday of each month, at 1:30 p.m. A short business meeting is followed by a program. Members take turns showing techniques and giving demonstrations. Recent program by guild members include mail art, computer art, making memory boxes, making decor with old jeans, watercolor, acrylics, oil paint, and drawing at the Lincoln County Historical Society Museum.

The guild has an annual judged show each April to choose the entries for the Association of Nebraska Art Clubs show. The next ANAC show will be at McCook in June, 2007.Officers are President, Sue Taylor; Vice President, Mary Beth Dodson; Secretary, Nora Wood; Treasurer, DeDe Hill. New members are welcome.
